‘In Their Name’ is the campaign of ‘The BC Wrongful Death Law Reform Society’. Our goal is to modernize British Columbia’s antiquated wrongful death legislation, which predates confederation (1846). Under current legislation, the value of a human life is measured only by the deceased’s future lost income, so long as they had dependents. All other provinces, including the Yukon have long since modernized. Only in BC is everyone’s life, except for breadwinners, worthless under the law. No “worth” means no “damages” to pursue in civil court. No “damages”, means no “justice”, and accordingly no accountability for wrongdoers.
We are looking for candidate(s) to join our volunteer team, specifically to undertake the following:
#1 Audit existing visual media content portfolio to assess available content footage
#2 Edit existing family story footage into publishable family story videos
#3 Cut (1 minute) video clips from existing archival footage to be utilized on social media platforms for content posts and advertising purposes
#1 Background in film editing with intention to expand their portfolio of experience
#2 Experience and/or ability in creating and editing video content for digital channels (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc.)
#3 Ambitious, hard-working, with excellent communication and creative skills who is excited about helping change the future of the province
#4 Results-oriented – someone who’s excited by the opportunity of being able to say they, for example, reached over 1,000,000+ British Columbians with the content they produced, which ultimately led to BC’s legislation being modernized. We want you to be able to note the results you achieved in your portfolio of career experience
This is a part-time, unpaid volunteer position for which we are seeking a time investment of ideally 8 hours per week. This is a remote position.
Please fill out and submit the form below along with your resume and/or portfolio.
Thank you for your consideration. We look forward to hearing from you and the potential opportunity of working together.
Sincerely,
The BC Wrongful Death Law Reform Society Team
