‘In Their Name’ is the campaign of ‘The BC Wrongful Death Law Reform Society’. Our goal is to modernize British Columbia’s antiquated wrongful death legislation, which predates confederation (1846). Under current legislation, the value of a human life is measured only by the deceased’s future lost income, so long as they had dependents. All other provinces, including the Yukon have long since modernized. Only in BC is everyone’s life, except for breadwinners, worthless under the law. No “worth” means no “damages” to pursue in civil court. No “damages”, means no “justice”, and accordingly no accountability for wrongdoers.
We are looking for candidate(s) to join our volunteer team, specifically to undertake the following:
#1 Leveraging spreadsheets and a Customer Relationship Management System (CRM) to manage and engage with all existing non-profit organizations we have on file, and to discover and build relationships with newly discovered organizational contacts.
#2 Engaging with key non-profit organizational contacts. Providing educational background materials and demonstrating how legislative modernization would provide dignity and protections specifically for that organization’s membership base.
#3 Coordinating with organizations to sign on to a letter endorsing the modernization of BC wrongful death laws (with five key tenets about what needs to get done in the legislation)
#4 Coordinating live virtual events on Zoom with other non-profit organizations and leveraging the CRM system to increase attendance and engagement.
#5 Coordinating with other non-profit organizations’ marketing/communications teams. Acquiring logos and organization information for publishing on the coalition membership section of ‘In Their Name’ website + blog article announcement and posting to social media.
#6 Providing logos, education materials, content, and directives for organization members to distribute to their respective membership bases and to publish to their website.
#7 Coordinating with the internal team for new publishing and announcements to various platforms.
#8 Providing reporting to key stakeholders.
#1 Either a student studying business, sales, marketing, communications and/or public relations, OR someone with a minimum of an associates degree background interested in the non-profit career field and is looking to expand both their network and their portfolio of experience.
#2 Ambitious, hard working, with excellent communication skills, who is excited about helping change the future of the province.
#3 Someone who’s technologically proficient and is keen to learn new skills involving utilizing a Customer Relationship Management system, and more specifically in this position, Hubspot CRM.
#4 Results oriented – someone who’s excited by the opportunity of being able to say they for example; worked with 100+ non-profits, coordinated 100+ non-profit partnership meetings, had 100+ non-profits join a member coalition, and subsequently reached a coalition membership base of over 1,000,000+ British Columbians through these collaborative partnerships, which ultimately lead to BC’s legislation being modernized. We want you to be able to note the results you achieved in your portfolio of career experience.
This is a part-time, unpaid volunteer position for which we are seeking a time investment of ideally 8 hours per week. This is a remote position.
Please fill out and submit the form below along with your resume.
Thank you for your consideration. We look forward to hearing from you and the potential opportunity of working together.
Sincerely,
The BC Wrongful Death Law Reform Society Team
